“Though she be but little, she is fierce.”
William Shakespeare

This quote is true of her physical size and abilities.
Jasmine Brown started J Communications in 2018 because she has a gift and a fierce way of showing it. She currently lives in Grand Blanc, Michigan, where she works full time as a marketing communications specialist at a local hospital.
Before joining the hospital, Jasmine worked at a Federally Qualified Health Center as a marketing communications specialist and was a morning news producer at NBC25/FOX66 in Flint, Michigan. She wrote a two-hour morning show, highlighting top news stories in the viewing market, which includes Saginaw, Bay City and Midland. Jasmine worked with anchors, reporters and photographers to decide how each news story would be presented to viewers. She is also a member of the National Association of Black Journalists (NABJ) and has stepped on as a founding board member of the newest NABJ chapter, Flint/Saginaw Association of Black Journalists.
Jasmine graduated from Saint Louis University (SLU) in 2014 with a Master of Arts in Communication, with a focus on Media Studies. During her time at SLU, she interned at St. Louis, Missouri’s local PBS station, the Nine Network of Public Media (KETC). Her master thesis project involved her internship as The American Graduate intern, highlighting the high school drop-out crisis through youth voice. The final project is a near 30-minute documentary featuring personal stories from teens in metro St. Louis.
Following her time at KETC and after achieving her Master’s Degree, Jasmine simultaneously worked a third shift, part-time web producer job at KMOV in St. Louis, while working full-time during the day as the Corporate Communication Intern with the St. Louis Rams. Both experiences shaped her as a journalist and communication specialist. She wrote stories for both websites – one job required news writing, the other required storytelling. At the news station, she read press releases to write articles – at the NFL organization, she wrote press releases to announce events and causes.
During Jasmine’s stint with the St. Louis Rams, she worked closely with players, their families, front office staff and partnering organizations to plan and conduct programs and events. One notable accomplishment is the first Barksdale’s Blessing. Jasmine named, planned, executed and wrote about NFL offensive tackle Joe Barksdale’s holiday family adoption. According to Barksdale’s website, he continues this program.
Following the Rams internship, Jasmine received a communications and outreach specialist position with a partnering non-profit organization. She completed many marketing projects, which included promotional material for a diversity summit, video production and educational workbooks.
Jasmine also holds a Bachelor of Arts in Communication with an emphasis on Media Studies from Culver-Stockton College (CSC) in Canton, Missouri. Before her graduation in 2012, Jasmine completed internships with the Saginaw County Chamber of Commerce and a former online newspaper called QuincyJournal.
Jasmine enjoys making a visible footprint for projects that she touches. Her ability to know what is newsworthy, attention to detail and experience in news media, public relations, communications, marketing and event planning proves she has what it takes to get your cause noticed.
